2017 Louisiana Coastal Master Plan Fish and Shellfish Community Model

Funded:  2014 – 2017
Sponsors: Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and The Water Institute of the Gulf

Objectives: The 2017 Coastal Master Plan modeling effort will help the state develop and implement the most effective restoration and protection projects for all stakeholders in Louisiana. To support this goal, Dr. de Mutsert and her team have developed a spatially and temporally explicit community model representing coastal Louisiana using Ecopath with Ecosim and Ecospace (EwE) suite of software. This model will help determine how select combinations of restoration and protection projects affect the distribution and biomass of fish and shellfish over the next 20 and 50 years. This model is coupled to various other models developed in support of the 2017 Coastal Master Plan.
