Sara Marriott

SaraFieldPhotoSara Marriott fell in love with marine science from an early age, spending her summers in Cape Cod playing in tide pools and running in marshes. She received a B.S in Marine Biology and an M.S. in Coastal and Ocean Policy from UNC-Wilmington. Post graduating, Sara spent nearly two years working on commercial longline vessels as an Observer for NOAA. After that she worked with an NGO in their fisheries program studying how marine protected areas and property rights impact fishing yield.

Sara’s passion is in working closely with stakeholders to build sustainable fisheries that support both ecosystem health and fishermen. She started with the Fish Ecology Lab, working on her Ph.D. in Fall 2018, on connecting social and ecological systems on small-scale fisheries in the Philippines.
